    Kolhi Women organize Seafood Festival to collect money  on International women’s day :

    The Kolhi Community women celebrated International Women’s Day in a unique style by organizing the mouthwatering and delicious Seafood festival.

    It may be noted the Kolhi community residing since centuries in Versova are today in crises and fighting for their rights. A huge 5-acre land that belongs to the Kolhi community has been forcibly captured by a corrupt builder. The Kolhi ladies are collectively fighting against the builder but tragically they have no money. Hence in order to collect money, they decided to organize a Sea Food Festival to mobilize funds for their battle against the builder.

    Interestingly Mumbaikar gave the Sea Food Festival a good response and extended support to the Kolhi community, who are actually the original inhabitant of Mumbai but alas land-hungry builder are chasing the Kolhi community out of Mumbai by grabbing their land illegally.

    Importance of International Women’s Day:

    History is a witness that women have fought their way through exploitation, harassment and have managed to secure their rights in the public domain over the centuries. Hence to salute the rise of women globally, each year on March, 8 International Women’s Day is celebrated with pomp and spectacle. The day is especially dedicated to celebrating the essence of womanhood and their achievements and commendable contribution to society.

    Mumbai too this year celebrated Women Day by organizing a verity of events and awarding women achievers for their admirable performances. This Koli sea festival was unique and different every Mumbaikars enjoyed it.On the Eve of International womens day.
