Fixing Racket Exposed! Notorious cricket bookie Bipin Indraprastha booked!
Infamous cricket bookie Bipin Shah Alias Bipin Indraprastha was arrested on Monday evening by Santacruz police for alleged cricket match-fixing. Paramjit Singh Dahiya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IX) informed media that Santacruz police got a tip-off of a gang operating matching fixing racket from a flat in Santacruz. Under the guidance of Shriram Koregaonkar, senior police inspector of Santacruz a team raided an apartment at Linking Road in Santacruz (W) and arrested the gang red-handed.
Shriram Koregaonkar told media, “When we raided the flat we found the four accused involved in the match-fixing act. Everyone was glued to the TV and watching live India –Australia cricket telecast match. Bipin Shah was chatting on phone, while other aides were working on the laptop and accepting bets.”
The police arrested Bipin Indraprasth (48), Jeetendra Jadhav (38), Narayanlal Rebari (24) and Devilal Jaat (40). In addition, the police seized Rs 20,000, cell phones, a laptop, and a communicator, which allows relaying of real-time updates to several phone lines.
During investigations, it was revealed the accused did betting business from a rented house in an apartment in Ashiyana building at the Linking road Santacruz. It may be noted Bipin Indraprastha is a history sheeter and is infamous for match fixing.
The gang has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act and Indian Telegram Act.
