Yesterday 5 October on the occasion of Dusshera, two big leaders Former CM Uddhav Thackeray and CM Eknath Shinde held Rally.
While Uddhav Thackeray Rally was at his traditional Dadar’s landmark the Shivaji Park, Whereas Eknath Shinde preferred the MMRDA Ground at BKC.
With this two big Rally Backdrop, Hello Mumbai News spoke to some people from the Minority Community, intellectuals, social activists to get their candid views on both the Rallies.
Farid Shaikh President Aman Committee: He showed much appreciation to Uddhav Thackeray and lauded his speech. His speech was more on the National level and he spoke as a National Leader and true intellectual. He needs much plaudits for his work amid the Covid-19 induced lockdown and saw to it that people didnt panic or slip into tension.
On Eknath Shinde, he said, he showed more support to the BJP and their ideology and not on Sena. He was merely representing BJP and not the Shiv Sena. He witnessed both rallies but supported Uddhav Thackeray.
. Uddhav needs to be lauded for his free frank and fearless speech. His speech focussed on Hindutva. Today people need employment and education and it was on these that he concentrated upon.
Whereas Eknath Shinde’s speech was focussed more on BJP Ideology and not of the Shiv Sena.
Amir Idrisi: Social Entrepreneur: He said, Uddhav Thackeray’s speech was fiery and spoke with great grit and determine. CM Eknath Shinde speech was pro BJP and I observed he was using a Government machinery to promote himself.
Mehmood Hakim: He said he has watched him since childhood and even as he led the MVA Government and despite controversies it didn’t impact him. People reposed faith in him. They appreciated him for his selfless work amid the Covid-19 pandemic induced lockdown. There was much professionalism attached to his speech and he spoke with dignity. Whereas Eknath Shinde speech was more on CM level. His address to the gathering at the Rally looked as if it was an entertainment event and moreover it was politically based unlike Uddhav Thackeray who spoke as a National Leader
Badar Hasan: He appreciated and showered praises on Uddhav Thackeray for his nationalistic speech. His speech was more for the Mumbaikars who reposed blind faith in him as an MVA led Chief Minister. Amid the Covid-19 pandemic he carried out selfless work for which Mumbaikars that includes the minority committee who looked upon him as a national leader to reckon with in Maharashtra.
Whereas CM Eknath Shinde’s speech was more on his support to BJP. It never looked as if he was addressing the gathering for any new developments, employment or education
Mohamed A Syed, Buissnesman
No doubt Shiv Sena is the oldest party known for its loyalty and dedication. This was proved at the Dusshera Rally held at the Shivaji Park Ground
Appreciate Uddhav Thackeray for his Nationalism. He is a National Leader and works with dedication for the people and the state. Everything looked in absolute tradition.
Whereas the Rally by Eknath Shinde, it was like a show-off Rally. The crowd at the Shivaji Park proved that the party is divided yet people stand by Uddhav Thackeray.
In his views Dussehra is a major religious festival of Hindus. The two rallies held on the occasion at Shivaji Park and MMRDA grounds at BKC were good. Politics and religion shouldn’t be mixed. Both groups had people with religious aastha and it should be respected. Although Uddhav ji rally seemed to be more successful which shows he is still favourite anong the common public.
Rehaan: Educationalist: In my view I will only say that though both the leaders Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde were at their whims and fancies, people will decide after the Civic Body Election. I feel that both Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray need to lure and pull crowd. I warmly congratulate Uddhav Thackeray for raising the release issue of the of Bilkis Bano rape case.
Fazal Sheikh: Advocate:
He showed much appreciation to Uddhav Thackeray’s speech because the original Shiv Sena rests with him. Undoubtedly, Muslims look more favourable to Uddhav Thackeray and they stand by him. He has done yeomen service amid the Covid-19 induced lockdown. Whereas CM Eknath Shinde is influenced only with the support from the Government.
Mansoor Khan: While expressing his views in the two big rallies conducted by two big leaders, he saw no potential in the speech that both the leaders delivered . Now a days inflation , unemployment and development are the biggest challenges in our country, but they did not talk to much aboiut on these issues only blame game was seen in both rellys.
