Aam Aadmi Party strongly condemns the increase in prices of 14.2-kg Non-subsidized LPG cylinders by Rs 86 yesterday to Rs 737.50, the highest single day increase in the history of this country. The hike comes on the back of Rs 66.5 per cylinder increase effected from February 1. LPG cylinder prices have moved up by nearly Rs150 over the past one month and by Rs271 since October, a whopping 58% increase.
The anti-people policies of the BJP government have consistently broken the back of the common man and continue to dig holes into his pocket. The government has back stabbed millions of citizens who gave up their subsidies in hope of better governance and feel cheated now. LPG prices are indirectly linked to crude oil prices that are more than 50% lower than the prices between 2010-2014 and despite that LPG prices are skyrocketing since the BJP government took over.
This loot must stop. Aam Aadmi Party shall launch protests nationwide including those in Mumbai by peacefully burning effigies of gas cylinders to symbolize the burning of the household budgets of the AAM Aadmi. If this decision is not reversed the protests would be escalated.
