It comes as a big relief to frequent BEST bus commuters commuting on buses via the British Era built Hancock Bridge.
The Undertaking on Thursday evening put to operation three routes over Hancock bridge, saving 40 minutes of travel.
The route includes route 45 from Noorbaug to Mazgaon and to Dockyard Road station, 134 from Noorbaug to Mazgaon and A-135 to Mazgaon.
In the past, Locals travelled across the East-West connector from Dongri to Mazgaon in five minutes. Owing to the demolition of the bridge, they had to take long detours that took 45 minutes to cover the same distance.
The blackstone bridge constructed in 1879 was dismantled in January 2016 after being declared dilapidated.
As per Activists they feel happy that the bridge after the reconstruction has been put into service thus allowing vehicles to ply over it.
The frequent commuters from Dongri particularly feel more happy and much relieved that they no longer need to take longer routes to reach Mazagaon. Moreover they save over 45 minutes of time.
Notably the traffic and public movement eases with the resumption of the Hancock bridge.
