Known as Maharashtra’s automobile hub city Aurangabad in tense communal tension broke out between two groups over a small issue in which one person killed and 40 injured.
The Rioters set over 40 shops and more than 30 vehicles on fire. In different part of the city. violence breaks out on Friday evening and continued till Saturday morning.
Aurangabad Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe issued a official statements saying the situation is under control.
“It was a small issue, trivial issue…that escalated. There were rumours and the tension spread. Some anti-social elements torched shops and vehicles,” Bharambe said.
The police had to baton charge, fire tear gas shells and plastic bullets to control the situation.some police officials also injured in the violence.
Units of the Indian Reserve Batallion (IRB) and companies of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) have been deployed in Aurangabad and neighbouring areas.
Companies of SRPF have also been rushed from the neighbouring districts of Beed and Jalna.
Section 144 of the CrPC – that prohibits assembly of more than four people – have been imposed in parts of the city .Internet services were suspended in the city.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also talked to Aurangabad CP and instructed him to control the situation as early as possible.
