Drug Trafficking has emerged as a worrysome for the Narcotic Control Bureau. Acting on a specific information, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Sunday after keeping a surveyance near South Mumbai’s Nagpada Junction, arrested an alleged lady drug peddler identified as
Hussain Bi with 1.8 Kgs of Hashish (Commercial Quantity)
worth Rs 1 crore on Sunday.
Upon preliminary investigation the seized Hashish were transported from Jammu and Kashmir.
As per Sameer Wankhede, Zonal Director, NCB, during the operation, it was unearthed that off late the drug mafias are luring minor children and women for trafficking of drugs.
A case has been registered by NCB and the interrogation is in progress.
In a similar operation on July 10, NCB launched a drive at Mumbai’s Mahim area and intercepted one drug peddler identified as Wasim Mohammad Shamim Nagor from the Mahim beach along with an intermediate quantity of Hashish.
Reportedly, it was after receiving complaints from Mahim residents, that a team of NCB officials swung into operation and kept a surveillance at the specific area.
Notably, the Team of NCB also found many children and teenage consumers of the deadly drugs at the place.
Sameer Wankhede also made it known that the were counselled on the ill effects of drug abuse and their parents were informed about it accordingly.
Meanwhile the preliminary investigation revealed that the drug peddler was parting with the drugs among the young kids in the area and was gradually luring them to get addicted to drugs.
Further investigation in the alleged case is underway.
