Ex CBI chief Ashwani Kumar commits suicide at his residence in Shimla

 

Former governor of Nagaland and ex-CBI chief Ashwani Kumar was found hanging at his residence in Shimla on Wednesday.  7th oct ,2020 .He allegedly died by suicide. A suicide note has been found.

According to inputs, teams of police and doctors from IGMC have rushed to the spot.

The 1973-batch IPS officer had served as the governor of Nagaland between 2014 and 14. He was also the governor of Manipur briefly in 2013.

Ex-CBI Director, Ashwani Kumar was in-charge during the Arushi Talwar murder case. He was also a member of the Rajya Sabha, representing the state of Punjab

Earlier, he served as the DGP of Himachal Pradesh from August 2006 to July 2008

Sources said that he was under depression for past some time. Teams of police and doctors from IGMC have rushed to the spot.

SP Shimla Mohit Chawla confirmed the incident and said that it was sad and shocking news as he was a role model for police officers.
