High Alert sounded in Mumbai Section 144 CrPC imposed  till 31 December in view of rising Omicron Variant

In the wake of Omicron Variant termed to be highly infectious and capable of undergoing frequent mutations, and 8n a bid to control its further spread multiple states that includes Maharashtra and Mumbai and Union territories across India, fresh stringent restrictions have been imposed.

Mumbai Police has sounded High Alert in Mumbai besides imposing Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) till 31 December. Large gatherings at shopping Malls Beaches and has issued directives to Bar Owners and Star Hotels not to hold parties on X’mas day and on the eve of the dawn of the New Year 2022.

Night curfew has also been clamped for stringent regulation on large gatherings, and prohibiting on the numbers of guests to attend marriage ceremonies and functions.

The central government too has already issued specific instructions to states after noting the “initial signs of surge”. The states have also strengthened curbs in districts once again reporting high case positivity rates of Omicron Variant.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi too has expressed deep concern over the speedy spread of Omicron Variant in India. He is viewing the situations and is taking all possible measures to curb the spread of the variant.

Meanwhile in Mumbai the MVA Government and the Mumbai Police has appealed to people to strictly follow Omicron Variant and Covid-19 appropriate behaviour at all times. Public transport to be used only by fully-vaccinated persons. All those travelling into Maharashtra will either have to be fully vaccinated or carry an RT-PCR test valid for 72 hours.
