The Hunger Strike came amid local residents of Saint Gayaneshwar Nagar Bandra East seeking clarity on issue of rehabilitation from the MMRC , dozens of people belongs to this went on Hunger strike demanded for their rehabilitation .
The issue :
MMRC have invalid the 14 huts of the Sain Gayaneshwar Nagar ,without doing any survey and demolished all huts with the help of Deputy Collector now they are not entertaining the slum dwellers saying ,they were on collector land so it’s their responsibility to rehabilite them, These huts were affecting of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporations Metro 3 project, that’s why MMRC took action against these huts.
Trupti Sawant a local shiv sena MLA from Bandra East , ” MMRC official is responsible for this blunder they are not ready to accept their mistakes, they did not did proper survey and directly demolished the poor people huts now where they will go? There was also illegal trsnsction of the rooms were done by MMRC’S corrupted official we have also raised this issue before Urban Development Minister Ranjeet Patil ,but MMRC is not in a mood to listen anything I am with them and our fight against MMRC will be continued “, she said.
On the other hand the local residents who were on Hunger strike Rakesh Dube ,Said I will die here until will get my home
Mr Ashok Madhker Shelar also alleged, if the government will remove directly without listening our problems where we will go and who will give justice to us.  Our exsistexistenant Structure are very old we have all proof so how they demolished our rooms without doing any survey asked Rakesh Dube , local residents who took part in this Hunger Strike were , Sushila Bhagwan Kamble, Nasreen Bano, Bilquis Bano sayyed, Lalita bhardwaj, Raajmni, Asha Devi, Mr Vikas Tiwari and Rakesh Dube.

After seeing pressure MMRC official Megha Jaddhav met the local MLA Trupti Sawant and local people and assured to look in to the matter. “We will put up the entire issue before our superior authority and will try to solve this issue, she said.
