IMD has issued ‘Orange’ alert in Mumbai today till 10 August. indicating possibility of heavy rainfall on August 8, 9 and 10.

On Sunday parts of Mumbai City and suburbs witnessed heavy rains. Several parts of the city were waterlogged resulting in traffic snarls across the city and delays on both western, and central railways.

Commuters found it extremely difficult to navigate through waterlogged roads that created traffic snarls till late evening. As traffic police officers, several areas experienced traffic jams due to waterlogging, despite it being Sunday.

Traffic movement was at snail’s pace on the Western Express Highway. Amid an ongoing exhibition and heavy footfall at NESCO ground in Jogeshwari, the north and south-bound roads on WEH witnessed slow-moving traffic.

Reportedly, there was a delay of at least 20 minutes to cross over from the entrance of Jogeshwari-Vikhroli link road to Hub Mall on WEH
Waterlogging was reported in parts of Sion along the arterial BA Ambekar Road, Lower Parel near Kamala Mills compound, Bandra Worli Sea Link, Eastern Express Highway, SV Road in Andheri, including the road below JJ Flyover due to which traffic was slow moving.

Though Mumbai received 45% excess rain in July, the first week of August in the city has witnessed a rainfall deficit.

As per IMD’s Weather forecast for today 8 August, sky will generally be cloudy with moderate rain in city and suburbs. Possibility of occasional intense spells at isolated places .

High Tide will be at 0721 hrs at 3.49 mtr
Low Tide at 1311hrs at 2.43 mtr
Next High Tide is predicted at1836 hrs with 3.28 mtr and
Low Tide at 0129 hrs with1.09 mtr.
