Yesterday prestigious election of Indo Arab Society took place at Islam Gymkhana. The election was between “Dynamic Panel” and “Indo Arab Society bachao panel” Mr Suhail Lokhandwala was Presidential candidate for Dynamic and Dr Patankar for IASB. Dr Patankar withdrew at last moment to avoid Presidential election.

Surprisingly Dynamic Panel was with big faces like Hasan Ghougle, Mohd. Bhai Sheesha, Nasir Pathan, Dr Yusuf Matcheswalla and others. Whereas IASB panel was with less important people. Though Dr Patankar withdrew from election but all the members of IASB planned good strategy under Shabbir Somji. Took meetings and divided work amongst themselves and personally contacted almost all members. Around 240 members voted till late evening and immediately counting took place. It was tense moment and Dynamic Panel contestants were relaxed as they were sure of victory. First round counting was for 100 votes. The result of first round was surprising as 2 out of 3 vice president candidate, both Gen.secretary and jt secretary and treasurer and 9 out of 12 managing committee candidate of IASB panel were leading. It was shocking for all. 2nd and 3rd round repeated like 1st round and atlast except one Vice president Dr Matchiswala and 3 members from managing committee all candidate of Dynamic Panel defeated. After result all elected members gathered and were felicitated by Suhail Lokhandwa and all vowed to work together for betterment of Indo Arab relation.

In this Election Shabbir Somji played key role for victory of less known faces of Indo Arab Society bachao panel and emerged as “Game Changer”.
