Following a telephonic conversation between Canadian Prime Minister and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau informed PM Narendra Modi about Canada’s requirements of Covid-19 vaccines from India. PM Modi assured of support to Canada of supply of Indian Covid Vaccine
I, Mr. Hemant M Shah, Director for Canada India Trade, OFIC, am delighted and excited with this news.
My heartfelt thanks to Mr. Trudeau for reaching out to our ally – Mr. Modi, PM, Government of India. Nothing makes my heart swell up with pride and positivity than both the Government’s exhibiting cordial relations and mutual understanding. I hail Trudeau’s decision to call Mr. Modi and to open the door for all future positive dialogues and Mr. Modi for reciprocating  positively and helping Canada with the vaccines.
I am glad that with this step Trudeau has looked at Canada and have left politics aside. It is indeed need of the hour to combat the Pandemic. My only humble request now is to complete the long overdue Free Trade Agreement (FTA). It indeed is the right time to start the talks on this front as it will boost the trade ties between the two countries. The FTA will help resolve issues related to tariff, import duty etc. on Canadian items. The FTA will give impetus to the Canadian trade and economy on a larger note.
