Indrani Mukherjee prime accused in Sheena Bora murder granted bail by Supreme Court

In a new turn of development, Indrani Mukherjee, prime accused in the murder of daughter Sheena Bora, was on Wednesday, 18 May, granted bail by Supreme Court.

The court, however, made it known that Indrani has already spent 6.5 years in custody and that the trial will not be over soon.

Earlier in February, 2020, the other accused Indrani’s husband, Peter Mukherjea, was released on bail.

Reportedly, Supreme Court granted bail to Indrani Mukherjea subject to the same conditions that Peter Mukherjea was granted bail.

Notably, Indrani Mukerjea petitioned the Supreme Court for bail in February following CBI court’s denial bail to her on multiple occasions.

In March, CBI had opposed her bail application in the Supreme Court because she is accused of planning and killing her own daughter.

The CBI court also stated that since Indrani Mukerjea is powerful, they fear that she will threaten, intimidate, or induce prosecution witnesses.
