Elections for term 2018-2021 of The Khoja Shia Ishna Asheri Jamat Mumbai was held on Sunday, 29th April 2018.
The Khoja Jamat is 117 years old and has the distinction of having Late Mohammed Ali Jinnah of Pakistan before partition as their member. There has been MLA, Mayor & Corporator also elected from this elite community.
The Election held on 29th April Sunday was eventful as Congress Leader Javed Shroff, Mr Shiraz Merchant (Zaib Palace group) had his candidates Mr Sarfaraz Charania (President) & Mr Muktar Gova (Vice President) against Team Vision candidates Mr Safdar Karmali (President) & Mr Ali Akbar Shroff for (Vice President) *proposed by and backed by Al Haj Mohib Nasser*. Mr Javed Shroff Congress Leader had contested election for term 2015-2018 getting 327(18%) votes loosing by a huge margin Mr Safdar Karmali got 1046 (82%) votes. He also made an PIL in High Court & his Wakf Board attempt also failed to stall the Democratic process. The Khoja Shia Ishna Asheri Community gave a clear mandate with below results
