Lions Club Vijaynagar Joins the Mission of Promoting the Worship of Eco-Friendly Ganpati Idols among Students


    Lions Club Vijaynagar conducted a special Eco-friendly Ganpati Making workshop for the students of Marol Education Academy ‘s High School and Junior College on 13th August’22. This workshop was implemented by a Mumbai based 40-year-old not for profit organisation, Parisar Asha. Parisar Asha enrichment experts Ms. Sukhada Sahsrabudhe and Ms. Sapana Shindolkar taught the children the art of creating Ganpati idols using ‘shadu clay’, an eco-friendly material. During the workshop the children were also educated about the environmental contamination caused due the worship of POP idols and the toxic colours. The children not only learnt this unique art form but also took the pledge of passing the message in t the community at large about the harmful effects of worshipping POP idols and promoting the worship of eco-friendly idols.

    This workshop was conducted in the presence of dignitaries from Lions Club Vijaynagar, Ln Siddharth Chatterjee – President, Ln Vraksha V. Bhandary – Secretary, Ln Ashwini T. Amin- Treasurer, Chief Guest ZC Ln Suhas Narvekar -ZC , Ln Vinod Kotian – IPP, Ln Dinesh Shetty, Parisar Asha CEO Ln Aarati Savur and other Lions Club members.The dignitaries also addressed the students and motivated them to be the ambassadors of a sustainable environment.

    The workshop was not only attended by school students but teachers and school staff also participated with great enthusiasm. It was a joyous occasion where the festivities were ushered by informed and responsible children who are the future of our country and after the workshop, the ambassadors of change.
