Hello Mumbai City Desk :

R.D. and S.H. National College, Bandra was established with the blessings and leadership of Rishi Dayaram Gidumal and
Dr. Annie Besant in 1949. It is one of the oldest Colleges affiliated to the University of Mumbai and the first of the 24 educational institutions established by the Hyderabad Sind National Collegiate Board.

A Sindhi Minority institute of Pride is truly ‘national’ in spirit, and has grown from strength to strength in the past 7 decades.

The Institution is the mother institution and envelopes within themselves the cultural richness and the history of the Hyderabad and Sindh Board.
In their legacy of 70 years, they
were  privileged to have had leaders and prominent personalities from all walks of life from the late President of India. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam to the music maestro, A.R. Rahman. They have been visiting and motivating the students from time to
time.

Furthermore, challenges are only opportunities to strengthen the mind, the race and the world at large, and the institute has been successful in transforming the ongoing pandemic challenge into an opportunity to empower the youth with the essential tools for overcoming such situations and providing
assistance to civic and administrative bodies during such global crisis, through social outreach initiatives,
such as promotion of khadi masks, helpline for mental illnesses, launch of the innovation and entrepreneurship cell, virtual lab, skill-based online workshops and webinars, motivational talks on radio
channels, to name a few. Keeping in sync with this glorious 70 years’ legacy, the Institution is actively involved in creating awareness and sensitizing young generations towards green practices through various activities and initiatives.

One such is in developing a Medicinal Plant Garden with approximately 200 species of plants in collaboration with Sushila Ayurveda Hospital & Research Centre, Nashik.
The initiative was  inaugurated on 25th July 2021 at 4.00 pm at the hands of Aditya Thakeray, Hon. Minister for Environment and Tourism, Govt. of Maharashtra in the  presence of Anil Harish, Trustee and the Immediate Past President of the HSNC Board, Dr Niranjan Hiranandani, Provost HSNC University, Trustee of the HSNC Board, Trustees and the Members of the HSNC Board, Dr. Neha Jagtiani (Principal) and the staff and students of National College.

Notably, this initiative is part of the “Swachh Campus Campaign” being launched by the college in the academic
year 2021-22 and is aligned with Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Mission.
This garden, with several medicinal plants, including endemic and threatened species, will be a permanent exhibition with information of the plants and their medicinal importance and will be accessible virtually.
