Mumbai Police arrested drug peddler Ajmal Totla from Sion on Sunday in connection with a case of seizure of mephedrone earlier this month.
As per police officials, there are multiple cases registered against him. Notably, Totla”s name was also mentioned by NCP Leader and Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik in connection with a drugs case during a press conference recently wherein the NCP leader had also referred to a woman drug peddler- Rubina Niyazu Sheikh.
Reportedly, November 20, the Police had arrested two persons, Arif Nasir Shaikh (39) and Atik Hamid Shaikh alias Itlli (28), both residents of Dharavi and seized 13 gm of mephedrone and Rs 4.13 lakh in cash from them. A police team had on that day found an SUV, with around four people onboard, parked on a footpath near a building in Mahim area.
When those people started running away, the police nabbed two of them.. Later, the police seized drugs, cash, a high-end mobile phone and their car
Infact, the police were searching for Totla in connection with that case and managed to nab and arrest him.
“We have arrested Ajmal Kasam Shaikh alias Totla. He is a notorious drug peddler of Mahim, Dharavi and sion area , and has many NDPS cases registered in Mahim police station. Our team has been searching for him since last many days. Acting on a tip off we laid a trap and arrested him from Sion. Now we have taken police Custody till 30 November and our invesigation is underway ” said Vilas Shinde, Senior Police Inspector of Mahim Police Station
