Mr. Anand Londhe, aged 20, has achieved a remarkable milestone by successfully completing the Comrades Marathon, celebrated as the world’s largest and oldest ultra-marathon. As the youngest member of the Indian contingent, his accomplishment highlights extraordinary spirit and determination in the face of one of the most challenging endurance events globally.
This year’s Comrades Marathon, held in Durban, South Africa, saw an impressive turnout this year with 22,645 participants from 76 countries including 4,741 female runners (21%). The Comrades Marathon, a historic and globally renowned event, took place on the arduous route between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, covering a distance of 85.91 km known for its tough hill route. The event underscored its global appeal and diverse participation, with India standing out as the largest foreign contingent, sending 342 runners to this year’s race.
