In a crackdown following a tip-off of currency, Air Intelligence Unit carried out a targeted operation and intercepted a family including two senior citizens.

The family comprising two elderly passengers and one other male passenger landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus from Dubai by Fly Dubai flight FZ 446.

On examining the baggage of all the three passengers it led to a recovery of 4,97,000 USD equivalent to approximately 4.1 Crore in Indian Rupee.

Reportedly, the Foreign currency seized were concealed in the saree, shoes and suitcases by the family according to AIU Officials.

The three persons have been arrested and produced before a Magistrate Court which has remanded them to 14 days judicial custody. Further probe was underway.
