Mumbai: All the four Nirbhaya gangrape convicts hanged till death in Delhi’s  Tihar Jail today – Family get justice after 7 years

Mumbai: A seven years battle for justice in the December 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape case got served today.

All the four convicts Vinay Sharma, Akshay Singh, Pawan Gupta, and Mukesh Singh who committed the heinous and merciless crime were sent to the gallows to be hanged till death at 5.30 am at the Delhi’s Tihar jail.

After the post-mortem at the Deen Dayal Upadhya Hopsital the bodies of the four convicts were handed over to their respective family members.

It was an historical day for the Tihar Jail authorities as for the first time, four men have been executed in Tihar Jail.

Reportedly, Asha Devi, Nirbhaya’s mother after getting the hanging news, hugged her daughter’s photo. She said “Justice was delayed in this case, but not denied. Today all the women in India will be confident and happy because they too wanted them hanged. Women across the nation will safe now.’ said Nirbhaya’s mother Asha Devi.

She further added that it is her request to the government and her fellow citizens, to observe this day – March 20 – as ‘Nyay Diwas’,
