Mumbai: BMC Corporator Bindu Chetan Trivedi Corporator, Ward 130, Ghatkopar, shares her views and work experience with  Hello Mumbai News.

For Bindu Chetan Trivedi, BMC Corporator, Ward No.130, Ghatkopar, it has been an extremely long successful journey- from a professional Event Manager to Social Activist to Reformist and now as Civic Body Corporator. Excerpts of the interview.

1) Hello Mumbai News:  How many Covid-19 Positive number of cases in your Ward No.130  reported .

Bindu Trivedi : It is  almost 42 positive cases reporter as if now. Majority is curable.
What kind of support work are you doing in your ward for the people during the lockdown period?
Bindu Trivedi: After I received a notice from the MLA of my Ward about the spread of Coronavirus in Mumbai, I alongwith my team from 17th March, 2020, plunged into our work and started distributing masks among the poor people. As of date, me and my team members, have distributed 35k masks in our ward.
We are also carrying out sanitization facilities in all the area of my ward regularly. The MLA of my ward has distributed 20k testing kits till now. And in my Patidar Wadi, though some of the community Clinics remained shut, yet with the help of Ghatkopar Medical Association and Indian Medical Association, I initiated doctors to open it from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm and this has been in operation since last 20 days. Also since last 5 days we have been trying to open Mobile Medical Camp in different areas. Till now through this Mobile Medical Camp, we have tested 1000 people and if any suspected cases are found we immediately inform either BMC or Health officer.
2) Hello Mumbai News: Are you satisfied with the performance by BMC and State Government to combat COVID- 19?
Bindu Trivedi: Yes. I am satisfied with BMC as they are doing a very commendable job in the matter of cleanliness and sanitization of infected areas. Even the SWM staffs are doing everything as per the requirement, but we are not totally dependent on BMC for their support as we believe that it isn’t the time to wait for anyone in taking action for the prevention of virus and waste time in putting allegations. So wherever BMC people aren’t going, me and my team take charge to deal with it.
3) What is your view on migrant workers?
Bindu Trivedi: Since last 60 days we are providing foods and grocery kits to the poor people and the migrant labourers and whoever wanted to go back to their villages because of this panic situation we have provided private vehicle facilities and online permission from the MLA and facilitated them with foods and water.
4) Hello Mumbai News: What kind of challenges are you facing while working?
Bindu Trivedi: It’s becoming extremely difficult to convince migrant labourers not to walk to their villages. Also Infected people are hiding themselves and run away from the quarantine centre so managing this is an harrowing experience.
5)Hello Mumbai News: What is your demand to the Government?
The ward where people are not following social distancing and quarantine, should be under complete lockdown as this can only break the chain of virus.
6) Hello Mumbai News: What is your message to the people?
Bindu Trivedi: My only message is whether it is people from slum or the rich, they all need to STAY HOME STAY SAFE. Virus won’t attack on the basis of wealth or religion. And still there is great need to be aware by considering the situation. I also want to tell industrialists to not to let workers go away, but to keep them at their place or in factory and feed them with 3 times meal. This is the great time India requires to stand United and challenge the virus. Battling with virus is much tougher than natural calamities
