Mumbai: Mumbai Citizens Associations for Child Rights (CACR), a section 8 non-profit organisation, established in 2013, in view of the prevalent Lockdown imposed by the Central Government to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, have initiated emergency relief efforts.

Their various initiatives to support the marginalized during this crisis is through implementing various programs to support communities across Mumbai.
Some of the initiatives are:

1. Distribution of monthly quota of dry ration to over 500 families in Gaondevi slum, Vakola pipeline area, Madraswadi, Dawrinagar, Hanuman Tekdi, Shastri Nagar, Vile Parle with support from Sir Ness Wadia Foundation.

2. Provision of 500 kg of vegetables and fruits to over 250 families in Vakola pipeline and Hanuman Tekdi Chawl.

3. Provision of ready to eat food packages to 600 families in Mandala Basti, in M/E ward near dumping ground with help of community development officer of MCGM and support from Tasty bites.

4. Provision of 50000 packets of cookies chips and dairy whitener to around 12000 families in Vikhroli Park Site and Dharavi Transit Camp with support from Britannia Industries ltd.

5. To do their bit for the frontline workers they are providing 8000 litres of hand sanitizers to the Government of Maharashtra through Haffkine Institute with support from ONGC Uran.

6. They are in the process of stepping up support through various initiatives by scaling up and providing monthly quota of dry rations to more 10000 families in M wards, Vikhroli Parksite, Dharavi slums, as well as cooked meals to pavement dwellers, construction workers, etc. with support from Rebel Foods.

This has been done in coordination with the police department, community volunteers from chawl committees and support from various corporates, individuals and well-wishers.

Through their emergency relief efforts they are into WASH in schools (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) along with menstrual hygiene management for adolescent girls in schools.

These could be possible due to
Partnering with UNICEF Maharashtra and Tata Trusts, Mumbai.

Infact, they have reached to over 30,000 children drawn from over 109 schools through the above programs, wherein they have been dealing with children from lower socio-economic background and their parents being daily wagers and severly affected in lockdown imposed to battle COVID 19 crisis.

CACR is managed by Mr. Nitin Wadhwani, Director and CEO with the able support by.co-directors Mrs. Indrani Malkani, Chairman and Managing Trustee of VCAN (V Citizens Action Network) and. Rtn. M P Singh, Past President – Rotary Club of Bandra.

Meanwhile CACR looks forward to generous helps and they will provide an 80G Certificate.
