Update about DCB CID CR No 58/24 (Fake travel documents case)
After revealing the facts regarding the forged documents and the involvement of the Navy officer, and his visits to the Korean Consulate, an offense was registered on 26/06/2024, vide C.R. No. 248/2024 under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120(B), and 34 of the IPC, read with section 12(1)(b) of the Passport Act at MRA Marg Police Station.

The same was re-registered at the Crime Branch by taking over its investigation vide C.R. No. 58/2024.

Till now, Lieutenant Commander Vipin Dagar, who visited the Korean Consulate, prepared the forged documents, and forwarded the same to the Consulate, has been arrested. Similarly, Sub-Lieutenant Braham Jyoti, who is the mastermind and on whose instructions Vipin Dagar was working, has also been arrested. Simran Teji, who is a close aid of Braham Jyoti, has channeled the proceeds of the crime through her various bank accounts. She also opened fresh bank accounts by providing false mobile details associated with the arrested accused, namely Braham Jyoti.

Two more accused, namely Ravi Kumar and Deepak Dogra, were arrested in J&K by the Crime Branch. Their transit remand was acquired, and they will be produced before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Esplanade Court, as soon as they reach Mumbai. Among them, Ravi Kumar is a beneficiary who wanted to leave for South Korea on a visa acquired by submitting forged documents. Deepak Dogra appears to have been monitoring the overall operation and identifying potential targets who wanted to go abroad on work visas.The police custody of accused is till 5th July 2024. Further investigation is underway.
