Re : Precautions to be taken in light of the break out of Corona Virus throughout the world and also in many parts of India.
Dear Members of the Community,
The world is currently facing a new challenge in the form of the rapid spread of the Corona Virus also known as COVID -19. Over the last few weeks this virus has also shown up in India and the Authorities have taken some urgent steps to control the spread of the virus.
Our community as responsible citizens of the nation must co-operate with local and national authorities and follow the guidelines issued by them.
We are in the auspicious month of Rajab ul Mujarrab and the auspicious month of Shabaan is to come soon. These are months where we hold many religious gatherings and programs to commemorate important days and do collective aamal. However in light of the spread of the Corona virus we would recommend the community centres across India to take the following steps :
Suspend all large social gatherings and programs at community centres and also marriages, as the Corona virus is known to have spread rapidly in some cases through such social gatherings. Centres can explore making alternative arrangements for organising programs and speeches without the presence of people which can be telecast through local channels and / or you tube till such time the authorities remove the guidance of suspension of social gatherings.
Make arrangements for good hygiene at all community centres which remain open. Please ensure that soaps and sanitisers are available at all community centres and visitors are encouraged to wash their hands before entering community centres.
Teams and Volunteers in charge of community centres are requested to ensure extra frequency and regular cleaning with disinfectants, especially in areas like member and places where Zari and Rozas are kept. Community members are requested to pay respects and recite Ziyarats at these places without touching and kissing them.
Where Jamaat namaz are not being discontinued (please refer to guidelines from local authorities), please keep adequate distance in Jamaat between individuals (consult your local aalim). It is also recommended to avoid the practice of musafeha and shaking of hands after namaz temporarily. However, if the local authorities have recommended that we should discontinue Jamaat namaz temporarily, then we should co-operate with them.
If you have returned from any International travel in the recent past, please co-operate with the authorities and follow the instructions. It is prudent if you can socially isolate yourself for two weeks or such period as recommended by doctors / local authorities.
Members are also advised to sufficiently stock up essential products for emergencies, but to avoid hoarding. The Government has kept all grocery stores open.
Please also help out elderly members of the community and from among the neighbours if they need any help or share from any essential products which you will have. This is the time to follow the seerat of our Holy Masoomeen and Ahle Bayt (as) and be considerate to needs of others.

There are specific clarifications and guidelines which have been issued from the Office of His Eminence Sayid Ali Husayni Sistani regarding this issue which was circulated by the World Federation earlier. We enclose that for benefit of all members.

May Allah (swt) protect all momineen and humanity from this pandemic. Please stay safe and exercise care and caution and pray for the safety of all Momineen across the world.

Abbasali A Bhojani
President,Council of All Khoja Shia Ishna Asheri Jamaats (India Fedration )
