Mumbai: Saudi Arabia scales down Hajj pilgrims visiting sacred city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia due to outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic

Mumbai: In Islamic terminology, Hajj, is one of the five pillars of Islamic faith and it is a pilgrimage made to the Kaaba, the “House of God”, in the sacred City of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

Hajj pilgrimage is considered as
a necessity for all physically and financially stable Muslims to undertake atleast once in their lifetime. A huge event in terms of mass gathering, the event witnesses more than two million Muslims congregating from across the world,

Hajj 2020 pilgrimage commenced on July 28 and will continue till August 2.

However, this year, due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, only a limited number of people will take part in the holy pilgrimage.

This is for the first time since Hajj began ruling Mecca about a century ago, that Saudi Arabia has had to scale down pilgrims from entering the country because of the outbreak of Coronavirus Pandemic.
