Majha Ration Majha Adhikar, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Maharashtra launches a week campaign

Mumbai, 4th August 2020 : Lockdown, to restrict, Covid19 pandemics has seriously daunted the economic activities specially the unemployment rate, which is soaring to its all-time high. According to Ministry of Health & Family Welfare- MoHFW data, of July 2020, 1.8 million people are affected and 23000 people have died because of Covid19.

Maharashtra is the worst hit state by Covid19, observed, Rizwanur Ur Rahman Khan, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maharashtra, in an address to the district organisers of JIH.

He said, “Consistent lockdowns by the government have seriously affected economic activities. Poor are the most vulnerable and it has become very difficult for them to get basic food for them and their family.” He lauded the welfare work done by different Muslim NGOS and individual who have provided food during this lockdown.

He noted that their work made it sure that no one sleeps hungry in our state and the world has recognised their commitment and services. Although he said, our resources are limited. Therefore, he said, “It has become necessary to introduce rationing scheme of the state and central government.” He asked all the units of JIH to plan in this regard and execute it in a way that it reaches all needy and poor people in the districts.

Explaining the aims and objectives of a week long campaign from 5- 12th August, “Majha Ration Majaha Adhikhar” Secretary Shaikh Mujeeb said, “We like to create awareness and educate people to get their right (Ration) and other government schemes.” He said that those people who don’t use the ration should buy grains and give to the needy people.

The campaign is the need of the hour said, Mohammed Siraj, President Movement of Peace & Justice- MPJ Maharashtra. He assured the Co-operation of MPJ in the campaign and said, instead of complaining, we should focus to solve the problems.”

Ramesh Kadam of MPJ-Mumbai explained the list of grains and pulses that can be availed from rations shops and advocated the collaboration with other NGOs working in the field to stop mismanagement.

Shabbir Deshmukh, President of MPJ Mumbai said that people who don’t have ration card can avail the rations on Adhar Card for the month of July and August 2020.
