Mumbai: The pandemic has thrown everyone into a pathetic plight. The NGOs and Big Foundations have been working hand in hand round the clock since day one of the Covid-19 induced lockdown selflessly.

Likewise, the Khatik Sahara Foundation, not only supports the Khatik, but they show no discrimination and believe that caste, creed, gender and religion are all different branches in the same tree. Hence with this belief, they work openly for everyone, though their main focus is on Khatik community because these people generally fall under Backward group of society. So to give them welfare and support this foundation stands in support of them.

While talking to Hello Mumbai News Reporter Ayushi Kedia, NGO Nawais Naeem Jadhav, Founder of this NGO gave a brief information of this NGO founded approximately a year ago i.e. 19th October 2019. This NGO is registered under Registered Assistant charity. This Khatik Sahara Foundation works for the welfare, rights, and betterment of Khatik samaj in Mumbai and all over Maharashtra. The welfare which the NGO provides to the Khatik Samaj is dealing with goods, slaughter, and so on. As those whoever does the job of cutting and slaughter are acknowledged as Khatik and they generally fall under OBC background in Maharashtra state.

Currently, approximately the Khatik Samaj has 14-15 lakhs people, and it not only includes the Muslim community but non-Muslims also who deal in buying and selling of goods and caretakers.

Amid the lockdown, this NGO is working round the clock since day 1 and they cover Bandra, Khar, and Santacruz and mainly focus their catering to roadside beggars homeless and Slum areas like Maharashtra Nagar, Bandra Station and Rajeev Nagar which is near to SV Road Bandra west. Apart from this they also covered the areas like Rahul Nagar Near to Bandra Reclamation and many other small slums, all the above facility were managed by some person of their team and in total per day, they distribute cooked meal to 700-800 people, in addition to this they also distributed biscuits and a water bottle of Bisleri to Poor kids and beggar and heartily give their hand of support to everyone those who were in need.
Apart from this, they focused on medical support for the people who were suffering from bypass surgery and kidney transplant in government and private hospitals or kidney dialysis, Orthopedic and delivery facilities to women

Further, he highlighted the challenges the team is facing every day staking their life as they travel to distribute food at various places.

Hence they maintain proper safety with masks, shields, sanitizers, and gloves. Even the team sometime feel scared of going in the gathering but the blessing of poor people give them the strength to become a ray of hope to serve everyone in need.

He also praised the BMC as they helped them in providing with the passes to travel across Bandra, Khar, Santacruz, or other areas within the Mumbai.

Otherwise without pass the situation would have become hustle bustle which was the first step towards the encouragement of helping others.

Along with the above services they are providing awareness programs to boost the immune system by having garlic tea and stay home or encouraging people to take more Vitamin C rich food in the meal.

Lastly, the team is also planning to implement an education programme for the children who are deprived of this facility, by making a team with some skilled persons. They believe in ‘Serve the needy people; God is there to give you internal happiness and blessings’.
