Food kits and grocery distribution in ward during lockdown.

Mumbai: Mumbai BJP Corporator Rita Bharat Makwana known for her dynamism shares her generous working style amid the lockdown with ‘ Esha Pujari Hello Mumbai News  Correspondent ‘ over phone.

Rita made it known that their party has been working from day one of the imposition of the lockdown to contain Covid-19.

“Prior to the lockdown, she has distributed 3000 masks and 2000 sanitizers to the senior citizens, children, police station, and grocery store owners under her ward and also created social distancing around the grocery store and shops.

In a move to spread awareness Rita said, she also distributed 600 grocery kits and the leftover kits were distributed to the nearby NGO’S.

Jain Bhojnalay of Shri Adeshwarji Panch Dharamsala Trust provided two times food to 2000 people daily.

She also said that in lockdown 3 from May 7, organised Free Tiffin distribution between the hours from 10am to 12pm.

It was mandatory to write name and mobile number by phone first.

A total of 85000 tiffins were given free of cost by the organization from March 25 to May 3 in the morning and evening.

Rita also said that the unparalleled
work of compassion is also being done by distributing food packets to the needy with the help and cooperation by Mumbai Police and Municipal Corporation officials.

The challenges she faced was to make people understand to stay home and the essential will be provided to them by their party at their door step. But unfortunately some people agreed on it while some did not.
Her demands from the government is to increase the number of beds in the hospitals where corona positive are treated and more attention to be given to them rather than quarantine centers.

Rita also complaints about the private hospitals charging huge amount for treatment and that action must be taken on them. She isn’t satisfied with the worksheets. She feels they could have created a masterplan as Mumbai could have remained safe .

When she was questioned about her views on migrant workers, she feels that had proper facilities been made for them, they could have stayed on. She also pulled a point on social media like WhatsApp and Facebook for spreading fake news which was also a reason for migrant workers to force themselves to return to their home town.

Her overall experience on one hand is that she is concerned for her health and on the other hand she also wants to be of service to others.

Rita’s message to the people is TO STAY HOME STAY SAFE and not to get panicked.
