Congress Leader Haji Mudsssar Patel meets Balasaheb Thorat Demands for 5% Muslim Quota in Maharashtra

Mumbai Congress Minority’s Department Vice chairman (Mahim Samaritan) Haji Mudsssar Patel writes to
Honorable Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray ji,
Chief Minister, & Meets Congress State President Shri Balasaheb Thorat ji & Requested to restore 5% reservation for socio-economic and educationally backward Muslim community

Haji Mudsssar Patel said Sir,
This is to bring your kind notice that the Muslim community is already facing backwardness in social economic and educational development compared to other communities in the country. This has been proved by findings of many reports such as Sachchar Commission, Mehmood-ur-Rehman Committee etc. Lockdown to contain coronavirus outbreak has pushed them to further miserable conditions.

The Congress-NCP combine government in 2014 had declared 5% reservation for the community in government jobs and education. The Bombay High Court then had also allowed reservation quota in education for the community, but it was scrapped by the erstwhile BJP led government.

Our hope was revived that things will change and Muslim, one of the most backward communities across the country, will also get share of their rights, since Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government was formed in Maharashtra in November 2019. The entire community is looking at you with all the hope and believe that you will not hesitate in taking a decision which is also in the interest of the state and country as development of a community with such a huge population will ultimately bring positive impact on the society at large.

Looking forward for a positive response at the earliest.said Haji Mudsssar Patel
