Mumbai: Mumbai Congress Party Corporator Wajid Qureshi,
Ward No 162, Kurla West says no proper sanitisation and no adequate toilets in Kurla Slums

Mumbai: Mumbai Congress Party Corporator Wajid Qureshi like
many other institutions, socio- cultural organisations and NGo’s came forward to help the poor and needy in the lockdown period and on the announcement of lockdown to combat the Coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to Hello Mumbai News Reporter Dolly Kaku, he talked about taking steps to ensure supply of sanitizers and essential items in the slums of Kurla area where people don’t have toilets in their home. Instead they have to depend on public toilets.

Wajid said that there is absolutely no maintenance of cleanliness and social distancing is not followed. He also pointed out of government’s hollow promises of constructing toilets.

He is thankful to his people who have been supportive and provides them with guidelines and even supporting covid-19 patients. But he feels upset that the Ward Officer and Head officer are not supporting at this crucial time when they need them. Ironically, the mobile of most of the officers are switched off whenever their support is required.

He also talked about PM Modi’s Atmanirbhar and that all citizens nerd to embrace it. Should trust yourself, you should not expect much from anyone, don’t depend on government. He and his team want that government should increase number of doctors and ambulance in their area. It is also his appeal to the government to keep an eye on their ward.
Wajid made it clear that he isn’t satisfied even with the State government.

The situation is getting to worse and when a person is found to have contracted coronavirus, they do not help immediately, but the help comes after 2 days so. They fail to understand that because one person affected with the virus, it gets and  spread to other persons as it is very contagious.

On the whole, Mumbai Mahanagar Palika is not doing proper work. Our party is very supportive and we all have given money to the laborers to buy ticket and board train to reach their village and to follow guidelines to be safe.

In the end Wajid reiterated that where support should have been extended it wasn’t found. There are hundred cases of covid-19 with 4 to 5 death cases.
