Mumbai: The Covid-19 induced lockdown has locked up all at home. But those who were placed in a predicament were the poor and needy and the migrant labourers.

Sharing his experience and activities amid the lockdown, Bharatbhai Shyamjibhai Marwadi said amid the lockdown many families did not have money to survive even for a month. So we provided them with essential ration kits to them.
The family contacted them after which we provided them with ration comprising 5 kg Wheat, 5 kg rice, 1-kg oil, 1-kg sugar, 1kg pigeon pea (tur dal), 1 kg Chickpea, and different spices containing Chilli powder, turmeric, salt and also tea leaves costing Rs. 1000 Rs to100 people. Currently, currently also taking care of10 to 12 families.

Further, he made it known that they acquired Paytm or google payment options to provide them essential ration. It is a tough task to attend to every family from Virar, Borivli, Prabhadevi. People requested them, they maintain conversation and enable people to understand.

We buy things as per menu and distribute. And he made it important not to click pictures but keep a record by putting in their name, family members, and phone number.

Likewise, they also work alongside Satyakam Foundation. From Australia also they received a donation through the people who are known to them. Similarly with own funds they managed the distributions.

Furthermore, they have formulated information as they are donating last kits, that whosoever’s name is in pending in the schedule almost 23 and 2, 3 new families will conduct them. Presently the unlock period is on. So they are reckoning to stop this allotment. Otherwise, they give the fees. In the Municipal schools they’ve performed various projects. We think these people require better assistance and the children here are from the middle class, below the poverty line.

Adding to it they supported schools like Kamatipura Municipal school and procured 150 steel plates as they utilized paper plates and put on 12 chairs due to the absence of chairs for teachers and others.

In Mahalaxmi Municipal School and additional schools, distributed books, color boxes, pencil boxes, etc.

Apart from this, amid the lockdown allotted a decent quantity of these kits. For the entire year of 2020 need to keep safe and move out with precautions. Masks and sanitizers and social distancing is mandatory till December and this needs to be strictly followed.

Circumstance was not so severe like on March 23. So the labourers would have reached their villages from Mumbai and other localities.

And when there was a surge in patients at that time they were sending these people. Many of them made it by foot reach their villages. In the process, lost their belongings. Currently, there is a limited number of labourers in Mumbai.
