Mumbai: After Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday ordered for closure of Malls, Theatres, Gyms and Swimming Pools in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pimpri-Chinchwadnow cones border.
Now a clarification comes from the Health Minister that Malls will function but all places of worship, Sports Events and religious gatherings stays banned till further notice to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
The number of positive Coronavirus cases may escalate, hence everyone should take precautions. I appeal to people to not pay heed to rumours. There is no need to panic. The isolation beds are available in all districts of the state. We are seeking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan’s permission to start testing labs, said the Health Minister.
Earlier today, the Indian Navy said that 44 Indian citizens who have been evacuated from Iran, have been shifted to the Naval quarantine facility at Mumbai.
Meanwhile the Maharashtra Chief Minister said that Wherever possible, corporates and owners of the private companies should allow employees to work from home from Monday. Avoid large gatherings.
Making the announcement in the state Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said the government was invoking the Epidemic Diseases Act of 1897 from Friday midnight.
The move comes close on the heels of similar decisions being taken by the governments of Kerala, Delhi and Karnataka.
