Mumbai: Bollywood’s most popular Music Director Wajid Khan of Sajid-Wajid fame passes away due to health related problems

Mumbai: Popular Music director Wajid Khan, of the popular composer duo Sajid-Wajid known for compositions for Salman Khan’s popular movies such as Wanted, the Dabangg franchise and Ek Tha Tiger, breathed his last on early Monday, 1st june Chembur’s Surana Hospital where he was admitted a few days ago and his condition deteriorated.
His passing away is a collosal loss to the music fraternity and the film fraternity.

I had the privilege of meeting and interacting with Wajidbhai during the song recording for Salman Khan’s “Dabangg”. He spoke very nicely with his infectious smile. A very humble human being. He was always helpful to people in times of need. Moreover he was a non-controversial man. Miss him badly.

Now with Coronavirus deaths in the air, soon following his death, several news reports emerged that claimed he succumbed to the novel coronavirus.

No sooner the sad news broke put of the composer’s demise, many from the film fraternity took to Twitter to pay tributes.

The music composer duo made their Bollywood debut with Salman’s 1998 movie Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, and went on to work on actor’s various films including Garv, Tere Naam, Tumko Na Bhool Payenge, Partner and the later Dabangg franchise.

Wajid also did playback for Salman in chart busters like Mera He Jalwa, Fevicol Se and for Akshay Kumar in Chinta Ta Chita Chita from the film Rowdy Rathore, among others. He recently co-composed Salman’s songs Pyaar Karona and Bhai Bhai, which the actor released on his YouTube channel.

Wajid along with his brother Sajid served as mentor on singing reality shows Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2012 and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar.

The composer duo also scored IPL 4 theme song, Dhoom Dhoom Dhoom Dhadaka, which was sung by Wajid.

Wajid was ailing from multiple issues. He had a kidney issue and had a transplant a while ago. It was only recently that he got to know about kidney infection… He was on the ventilator for the last four days, after his situation started getting worse. Kidney infection was the beginning and then he got critical. This is the statement of composer and singer Salim Merchant.

In his passing away he has left a big vacuum very difficult to be filled in.

Soon after the news broke, many from the fraternity took to the micro-blogging site to pay tributes.
