Mumbai : Muharram is Holy Festival Celebrated by Muslims with abstinence and prayers to mourn the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain in the battle of Karbala in the seventh century. It marks the first and one of the sacred months of the Islamic Calendar. The Maharashtra government has issued a circular saying Muharram should be observed in a simple manner and that processions will not be allowed in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis.
Regarding this Mumbai Police issues an important message. Mumbai Police announces that they are not granting Muharram Procession on 7th & 8th Day. “All the people are requested, some people have spread such a false rumor through WhatsApp, stating that 200 people have been approved for the procession of 7 Muharram, 8 Muharram, 9 Muharram and 10 Muharram! Due to Corona epidemic in Mumbai, Maharashtra Government and Mumbai Police have not given permission to any such procession!”
It is well known to all people that under the guidelines issued by the Maharashtra government, no one has been given permission to procession by Mumbai Police!
Everyone should celebrate Muharram at their home and please support the police and administration.
