NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY CELEBRATION

R.D. National College, one of the oldest colleges in Mumbai with a legacy of 70 years and the first of the twenty-four educational institutions established by the Hyderabad Sind National Collegiate Board celebrated National Science Day on the 28th February, 2020,
The College being a pioneer when it comes to encouraging Science & Technology for educational purposes, inaugurated new facilities on its premises such as a state of the art laboratory, Common Facility Centre and E-Learning Lab with the objective to encourage undergraduate research ; and by commemorating the achievements of seven exceptional researchers and academicians in the field of Science & Technology with Vighyan Gaurav Award.
The program began at 11:30 a.m. with escorting the Chief Guest, Prof. Rajan Welukar (the Vice-Chancellor of G.H Raisoni University& former Vice-chancellor of Mumbai University) and other dignitaries to the Multi- Purpose Sports Utility Centre where innovative projects of National college students were displayed. The In-charge Principal, Dr. Neha Jagtiani, gave the welcome address and felicitated Ms. Maya Shahani. While addressing the gathering both the dignitaries emphasized on the benefits educational institutions can reap from the limitless field of Science & technology and congratulated the relentless efforts of Dr. Jagtiani and her team in making National College an institute of excellence for higher education.
The personalities who received Vigyan Gaurav Award were Ramakrishna V. Hosur for Research in Science; Dr. Arun Kumar Nigam for Outstanding Achievement in Physics Research; Dr. Sunil Patil, Director, Board of Students Development. for uplifting Undergraduate Research in University of Mumbai; Dr. Sagarika Damle for her contribution in the field of Biological Sciences; Mr. Ramakant Harlalka for his Valuable Contribution in Aroma Mission in Indai (Innovation); Dr. Anjali Puranik, for her contribution to Rural Areas.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. Sudhir Raniwala, Professor at Rajasthan University, delivered the keynote address and spoke extensively on Science & technology and its use in education. With this came the time for the vote of thanks which was delivered by Dr. Mona Kejriwal, Principal Investigator, DST-FIST, R.D. National College; followed by National Anthem that marked the end of an exciting and a promising event.
