Mumbai: Even as the Social Service (SS) branch of the Mumbai Police have been vigorously cracking down on illegal online flesh trade and flesh trade in Star Hotels, on s tip-off busted a high profile case in Oshiwara”s posh Samartha Aishwarya building.
Upon raiding the posh Oshiwara Society, the police arrested 17 people among being many IT professionals and businessmen.
According to the SS branch Officer the arrested people were taken to the police station. On inquiry of their profession, many of them were found out to be IT professionals and businessmen from well-to-do families..
During the raid the SS branch officers recovered ₹91,000 in cash and 2,120 poker coins reportedly worth ₹35 lakh along with a diary of customer’s record.
Following the raid, an offence under the sections of Maharashtra Gambling Act was registered at Oshiwara police station. All the eighteen accused have been released on bail subsequently after the arrest.
The SS branch officer reveals that the 700-sqft flat, in which the club was operating since last few months, was rented by 32-year-old Monish Paleza for ₹10,000 per day.
“Such gambling clubs are being allegedly operating in the city in posh residential premises and hence, it becomes a problem to raid them in the absence of precise information” says SS branch officer
