Mumbai on High Alert On New Year Eve Commissioner of Police clarifies on Khalistanis terror attack in Mumbai

Speculations were afloat on Thursday Night that Khalistanis have reached Mumbai to blow up the Financial Hub. This sensational news instilled fear in the minds of Mumbaikars who still remember the 26/11 terrorist attack which witnessed deaths and Star Hotels in South Mumbai burning. The Headquarters of the Mumbai Police were flooded with calls over the news.

But the Commissioner of Police Hemant Nagrale clarifies that the Police department does not have any information regarding any terrorist attack by Khalistanis in the city and that it was a “rumour”.

Notably Nagrale’s comments came in the wake of reports of Mumbai Police having tightened security at prominent railway stations and other public places and cancelled the weekly offs and holidays of its personnel in the wake of intelligence inputs that Khalistani operatives may carry out a terror attack in the city on the eve of the New Year.

Nevertheless, the Mumbai Police and the Navi Mumbai police have increased police bandobast for New Year eve to avoid trouble or any criminal acts.

Meanwhile the Commissioner made it aptly clear that Mumbai Police are on alert and will be keeping a strict vigil across the city on December 31 amid rising cases of Covid-19.
