Mumbai: Mumbai Police on receiving a tip-off raided a Dance Bar Star Bar and Restaurant in Goregaon (East) and took into custody 15 customers and 19 people. This is the first raid following Unlock-5 when the Government allowed re-opening of Bars, Restaurants and Hotels in phased manner and observing social distancing.
Police arrested 15 customers and 19 people. Nearly 11 bar girls were rescued from this dance bar .The raid was conducted at 9pm while the bar girls were grooving to music on the dance floor.
An obscene dance by 11 girls in the guise of orchestra was in progress in the presence of Waiter, Supervisor, Manager and Cashier
when the police team swooped on the floor of the dance bar.
This was in total violation of the rules and regulations.
Police have arrested all of them under Sections 294, 114, 34 of the IPC and Sections 3, 8(1), (2) & (4) of Maharashtra Prohibition of Obscene Dance in Hotels, Restaurants & Bar Rooms and Protection of Dignity of Women Act 2016.
Reportedly, Dance Bars and Restaurants were barred from functioning illegally and flouting Government norms and protocols.
