Notwithstanding the Central Government’s ban on e-cigarettes in 2019, ironically, the tobacco products are still available in the market and sold discreetly.

A fresh case of stock and sale of e-cigarettes comes to the fore.

As per a press release shared by Mumbai Police, Senior police Inspector of Social Service Branch Manoj Sutar received an information and a tip-off of illegal sale of huge quantities of imported flavoured tobacco and as many e-cigarettes at Crawford Market.

No sooner he received the information he passed it on to his colleague Chandrakant Jadhav who laid a trap and raided the premises of Suvidha’s Collection, Shop No 329 Mahatma Phule Market popularly known as Crawford Market and seized illegal e-cigarettes valued at
Rs. 2,37,500 and flavoured tobacco valued at Rs.12,000 cash and arrested Ashok Shyamlal Katara under Section 7& 8 Illegal pocession of Electronic Cigarettes.

Following this raid, the Social Service Branch handed over the case to the MRA Marg Police Station wherein an FIR was registered against the said accused Ashok Shyamlal Katara. at MRA Marg Police

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
