Mumbai Vasai Couple surge forward to support migrants making it by foot through highway to reach their homeland

The migrant story has been one of the biggest learnings of the Covid-19 pandemic. These are the people who build our cities, huge structures, keep our economy growing. Their lot has been the worst.

Mumbai: At this pathetic plight of the migrants, well- known social entrepreneurs of Vasai, wife-husband team, Aarti Thakor, Dharmendra Thakor, came forward to support migrant people who are making it by foot through high-way to reach their native place like Rajasthan and Gujarat.

The couple provided them with lunch , dinner and food packets and also helped them with temporary shelter .

Speaking to “Hello Mumbai News” , Arti thakor said , ” when I received a call from my friends , migrants are making it by foot through national highway to reach Gujarat and Rajasthan, I reached the highway. I was upset and disturbed on seeing their plight. They were hunger-struck and tired. Wasting no time, I immediately arranged food and distributed it among them. Me and my husband also arranged temporary shelter for them in local schools and also set up janata kitchen for providing food to them on daily basis.

Arti thakor lashed out at politicians for turning a blind eye towards the migrants and nor doing much for them. They seem to be bothered only in helping from their constituency and ward since they have their own benefits there.

It’s just my request that they open their eyes on these hapless migrants who are making it by foot through highway and do something. She further said , “we have also been distributing food and grocery among Adivasi and tribals people in some adivasi pada in Vasai and nearby highway .

Dharmendra Thakor, Arti’s husband also extended full support to his wife in this noble and deserving cause. He is also into helping these migrants in preparing documents, police form , medical certificate and their temporary shelter. He is also handling transportation of food .

The couple feel happy and contended for doing this work and appeal to all to support them .
