India-Canada relations are built upon commitment to democratic values, pluralism and people-to-people connect.

Interestingly, there is an Overseas Friends of India Canada (OFIC) a federally incorporated non-profit organization formed with a mission to enrich & strengthen relations between Canada and India.

Moreover, Overseas Friends of India Canada (OFIC) brings together Indo- Canadians of all ages, ethnicities, faiths and political stripes following the spirit of multiculturalism, friendship and our core civilizational values to work towards strengthening the ties between India and Canada.

The organization has been involved in providing community services voluntarily in promoting mental health awareness programs, raising funds for Fort McMurray victims of fire.

Im the wake of Coronavirus/Covid-19 Pandemic, it has been a tough year! However, in this traditional season of giving love, peace and joy, OFIC emerged in the forefront as usual to commit itself in providing continuing services to the community and vulnerable people across the city.

It was on 13th December, that Team OFIC got together and collectively made food donations (non-perishable items) to the Ottawa Food Bank by giving food to the needy, for their warmth and a hope to live!

Ottawa Food Bank appreciates all its volunteers for their incredible services with a message to keep up the amazing work that all the food banks are doing across our great country of CANADA. 

OFIC brings together Indo- Canadians of all ages, ethnicities, faiths and political stripes following the spirit of multiculturalism, friendship and our core civilizational values to work towards strengthening the ties between India and Canada.

Team of Professorials behind OFIC who willingly volunteer their time.

1. Shiv Bhasker, a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)armed with many years of work experience in many senior posts both in private and government.Mr. Bhasker has always been involved in volunteering his time to do community work as he was involved running a community basketball league and was a competitive head coach.

2. Dr.Narinder Garg, Executive Vice-

President and a former IITian, is passionate about India and Canada, wishes to see India and his adopted country Canada reach great heights.

2. Nagmani Sharma, Secretary, a professional Software Engineer by profession, who moved to Ottawa from Winnipeg brings a worldly thought processes to the OFIC board.

3. Kulbhushan kapoor, Treasurer, is a Professional Mechanical Engineer, our Treasurer, with many years of experience in sitting on many community boards and brings a unique perspectives to our board meetings.

4. Shefali Adhikari, Programme Director, is armed with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business. She brings energy and creativity to the IFUC Board.She could be counted upon always to make interesting and dynamic programmes . She brings many talents as she also runs Bollywood dance programme . OFIC feels very proud to have her in their team.

OFIC’s mission is to foster friendly and mutually respectful relations between the people/citizens of Canada and India.

Vision
To project and promote Canada and India as vibrant multiculutral and peaceful democracies by hosting events and promoting inclusivity.
