Feeding drive for the Strays
started with a collaring drive to reduce hit and run cases in Thakur Village with a few volunteers every Sunday. When lockdown was imposed many feeders started a feeding drive and amongst them was our youngest founder President, Rtn.Rtr Sakshi Pandit along with her family. It’s been one and half year since the drive has taken place and from feeding each day presently major attention has been shifted for sterilization and vaccination.
It was a rescue operation turned into an impactful initiative and Rotary Club Of Mumbai Worldwide, RID3141 supported in every way possible. The club is the youngest Rotary Club in 115 years of Rotary International which is came into existence with the help and guidance of Rtn.Rtr.Jay Shah, Rtn.Rtr.Bharat Patel, mentor Rtn.Deepa Goenka, current President Rtn.Jay D Shah, Secretary Rtn.Rtr.Dhvani Bhatt, BOD Rtn.Akshay Chordia, Rtn.Rtr.Saurabh Patil, Rtn.Rtr.Sakshi Patil all it’s members. Having young, passionate youth driven and fueled for community welfare and global outreach, the club also supports Rtn.Anu , a wheelchair basketball player and Rtn.Sushmeetha Bubna Founder of an NGO for specially abled.
The initiative did not just focus on feeding but also spreading an awareness about rescuing, treating, vaccinating and compassion towards strays. Lockdown did not allow the club to execute many initiatives on ground but we as a whole were able to support many communities digitally and through funds.
Be it contributing for ration kits, sanitary napkins in orphanage homes, taking sessions in schools, colleges for Anti Bullying campaign, being a part of Earth hour, live sessions for fund raising, collaborating globally to make a difference and bring a change etc.
We strongly believe, each one has the potential to serve the community with funds, time, efforts and even talents. Together we are building opportunities, networking and empowerment and would be glad to see many associate for the same.
