Today 13 June marks the auspicious occasion of the birthday of Minister of Environment, Tourism and Mumbai Suburban District Minister Aditya Thackeray.
To mark this day, a programme of Tree Plantation and beautification and opening of the two parks Shaheed Tukaram Omble and Swatantryaveer Savarkar near Aarey Check Naka in a new phase was carried out by Ravindra Waikar, MLA, Jogeshwari Assembly Constituency, and former Minister of State.
Like every year he undertook Tree Plantation programme to maintain ecological balance in the Jogeshwari Assembly Constituency at 10 am.
A sum of Rupees Sixty Lakhs have been funded for the beautification of the Shaheed Tukaram Ombale Park and Rupees 75 Lakhs for Swatantryaveer Savarkar Park.
Earlier, Ravindra Waikar had set up the two grand entertainment parks with MLA Funds in memory of Shaheed Tukaram Omble and Swatantryaveer Savarkar near Aarey Check Naka in Goregaon (East), known as lungs of Mumbai. The opening of both these parks were being attended by people from different parts of Mumbai.
Ironically’, for some reasons, both these parks remained shut by the Aarey Administration since the last few years.
Reportedly, Waikar had written to the Aarey Administration that the Government has spent lakhs of rupees for the construction of these parks and they should be opened to the public. Not only that, under the guidance of Aditya Thackeray, at a recent meeting chaired by Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Sunil Kedare’, it was decided to throw open the two Parks.
