Worryingly, Omicron and third wave of Covid-19 Pandemic has instilled fear and concern in the minds of the Civic Body Officials in some of the wards where Covid-19 is causing worry with its raging rise in High-Rise Buildings specially in South Mumbai Bandra and Andheri. Over and above when at a time when Asia’s biggest Slum Dharavi reported zero cases is now worried in the rise in infection.
A significant rise in Covid-19 cases are being reported mostly among international travellers and areas with more towers.
Reportedly in December in a span of a week, the city had reported 2,728 Covid-19 cases as against 1,383 recorded in November.
Ironically in a month there has been a steep surge in wards in Colaba, Nariman Point, Churchgate and Fort.
In a week’s time in December the case climbed to 141 from merely 35 recorded during the same period in November. Similarly, the cases jumped to 237 from 85 in D ward comprising Mahalaxmi and Worli.
In K-West Ward in the Western suburb of Andheri, including Vile Parle, has been reporting most cases since the second wave. The Covid-19 infections in Bandra West and G South ward have also been increasing by leaps and bounds.
Wearing masks and maintaining physical distance have become even more important and order of the day as per a civic official.
In other words it has become mandatory while moving out and in establishments and other places of work.
Dharavi reported One Omicron case after which tracing and testing started vigorously by the Civic Body. They are now seriously concentrating on vaccination says an official from G North ward.
It looks that these viruses will continue for some more time. There is going to be no relief for people in India in the coming years. As people hoped that the virus wìll subside in 2022 it doesn’t look like with the sweep of the new Omicron Variant.
