Exclusive report of Kamal Prabhakar UK Head Hello Mumbai News

It is good to see the UK is again the first country to approve the new Covid vaccine- the Oxford jab. At £3 each compared to £15 for the Pfizer’s version and not requiring a temperature of -70C but room temperature the vaccine will help more people globally. especially in hot countries such as India. It is positive to see the biggest UK mass vaccination ever and this is a pivotal time against the Corona virus. More people have been vaccinated in the UK than all of Europe put together.
However from the asian point of view people from the Black Asian Minority Ethnic groups are not in the priority group of people to receive the vaccine.” Says Ravi Bhanot, who was award an MBE in the 2021 Queens Honours List for services to the Asian Community – for increasing their numbers in giving organ and blood donations. “It is accepted that people from the black and asian backgrounds, particularly with underlying conditions such as diabetes and heart conditions are at a higher risk category so logically they should be put as a priority over people who are 75 with have no underlying health issues. However sadly this is not the case. The authorities feel that individuals who are 16 to 64 with underlying health conditions should wait till everyone over 75 and over (1.5 millions), all aged 70 and over (3.3 million people), all people over 65 and over (3.4 million) must go first. This cannot be right.”
We have written to authorities for this to be reviewed urgently. We are awaiting an answer.”
