Why is CM Eknath Shinde silent when the Marathi brothers are being attacked by Karnataka? Balasaheb Thorat

The CM should immediately call an all-party meeting on the border issue.

Mumbai, 7 December

The recent attacks on the Marathi brothers living around the border area from Karnataka are very serious and the border issue has taken a different turn. Trucks, buses and vehicles are being vandalized in Maharashtra. Maharashtra will not tolerate these kinds of attacks from Karnataka. While the opposition parties in Maharashtra have expressed concern over the border issue and are standing firmly behind the Marathi brothers, the Chief Minister continues to remain silent. What is Maharashtra’s position on the border issue? What will be their next course of action?. Congress Legislature Party Leader Balasaheb Thorat has demanded that the Chief Minister should call an all-party meeting immediately on the issue.
Talking to the media at Tilak Bhavan, Balasaheb Thorat said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is behind the attacks on the Marathi people living along the Maharashtra-Karnataka border and we have nothing to do why they are doing all this. BJP is doing wrong politics on border issues. Since there is a BJP government in Karnataka and at the Centre, is the Centre giving instructions to Karnataka on the issue? We don’t know this but as this matter is serious, our Chief Minister should call the leaders of all the parties in the state and discuss it. We should be briefed about the facts and what is the next course of action the state government will be taking. When injustice is being done to the Marathi brothers, Maharashtra should stand firmly behind them.
Marathi brothers in the border areas are being deliberately oppressed from Karnataka. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and ministers are constantly making anti-Maharashtra statements. There is a lot of anger among the people against this tyranny of Karnataka, but the Chief Minister of Maharashtra is not taking a clear and firm stand. Seeing all this, one wonders whether the Shinde-Fadnavis government in the state has taken the border issue seriously or not, said Thorat.
