Mumbai: Today the Maharashtra Assembly Elections are being held. In total 288 constituencies these elections will take place. This year the major fight is between two parties BJP and Congress. There are total 3,239 candidates who are fighting for these elections. The Maharashtra Assembly elections are also known as Vidhan Sabha Elections. In Maharashtra BJP is fighting in alliance with ShivSena against Congress. There are total 8,98,39,600 voters, out of which almost 1,06,76,013 fall under the age group of 18-25.
Many politicians have voted since morning. Some of them are Chief Minister along with his mother and wife, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, ShivSena chief Uddhav Thackrey along with his wife Rashmi Thackrey. Aditya Thackrey who is fighting form Worli constituency also voted from Bandra. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat also casted his precious vote from Nagpur. Nationalist Congress Party Chief Sharad Pawar also voted from Mumbai. Actress and BJP MP Hema Malini also casted her vote. Many celebrities namely Smriti Irani , Ritesh Deshmukh along with wife Genelia Deshmukh, veteran actress Rekha, Govinda along with his wife. Actor Varun Dhawan voted from Juhu, Preity Zinta, Filmmaker SUbhash Ghai, John Abhraham. Lyricist Gulzar after casting his also said that, ” those who won’t be voting have no right to speak about any problems “.
Since morning only 17.75% of voting has happened in Maharashtra. People out there are showing out a really low response to these assembly elections. Celebrities and Politicians are requesting people to come out and vote as these elections are for democracy and the leader who will be chosen will be the speaker of the people. People should come out and vote as, “One vote can change many things”.
