    MTDC Elephanta festival ‘Swarang’ kicks start from June 1

    The much awaited “Elephanta Festival”, which is a confluence of music, dance, art & crafts and painting, will be celebrated on 1st and 2nd June (Saturday and Sunday) on Elephanta-Gharapuri Island. The theme of the two-day festival is “Swarang”. The two-day event will have lots of music, singing, dancing and various art & crafts, painting etc.

    The two-day festival will be inaugurated in the presence of tourism minister Jaykumar Raval at 6 pm on Gateway of India near Taj hotel. Renowned singer Kailash Kher will open the festival by recital of Lord Shivas praises.

    A Heritage Walk for specially abled of the Divyaang organisaiton has been organized on Sunday (June 2), from 11 am to 3 pm, showing Shiva sculptures at Gharapuri island.

    The moto behind the walk is to introduce the ancient crafts of Shivdandav, Yogamudra, Shiva Parmima, Gangavataran, Ardhanarineshwar and Trimurti.

    A unique confluence of dance, art and music will be unfurled at the Elephanta-Gharapuri Island. Noted singers such as Rahul Deshpande, Swapnil Bandodkar and Priyanka Barve will perform on the occasion. Well-known script writer Achyut Palov, painter Vasudev Kamat, cartoonist Nilesh Jadhav, Shil Kumbhar, will give live demonstrations on ‘Avishkar Live’.

    Thousands of domestic and international tourist will witness the two-day Elephanta festival extravaganza. The festival will provide lot of employment opportunities to entrepreneurs. Tourism Minister Jaykumar Rawal has appealed to the tourists to attend the festival in large numbers.

    Department of Tourism secretary Vinita Ved Singal, tourism director Dilip Gaude, managing director Abhimanyu Kale and others are working hard for the success of the festival.
