Hello Mumbai City Desk :
Mumbai: Afterwater the Bhandup pumping station on Sunday got disrupted due to water-logging following heavy rains on Saturday night, the operations at the pumping station got disrupted.
This resulted in non-supply of water to several parts of the city on Sunday.
While the BMC officials claimed that they were working on war footing to restore the water supply, the civic body officials also asked Mumbaikars to boil water before drinking as there may be contamination in water.
As water had entered the Bhandup water pumping complex area, the filtration and drainage plants at the water purification centre had to be shut down.
Due to this, water supply in most parts of Mumbai was disrupted on Sunday.
Sources reveal that with no water supply, many housing societies were forced to get water from tankers. Many reported that water tankers were charging exorbitant rates to supply water on Sunday.
Efforts are underway to restore the city’s water supply by restarting the water purification system in the complex by Monday.
